I reached out to Rocky in hopes to receive an estimate for a rather expensive retrofit project. After speaking with him, I noticed something was off with how unprofessional his wording was and exaggerated his claims were on his e-mail reply. I was able to get ahold of some of his previous clients and am very happy I avoided what could have been a potential lawsuit. I do hope clients like Melinda are able to recoup any stolen funds from Rocky. Avoid this company at all costs like I did!

I hired Rocky and Seismic Northwest to install 3 windows and remove a structural wall in my home in May of 2022. Rocky performed an initial estimate, I handed over my deposit, another guy came out to my house and measured for the windows and that was basically it. It was all downhill from there. After a year of back and forth, mostly with little or no response from Rocky, I decided I didnt want him to do the work anymore. He agreed to return my deposit and assured me he would do what he could to make everything right. He then told me he didnt have the money to get back to me but was willing to do payment arrangements. He said, As a company, sweetheart, I dont have that extra money to get back to you. Cut to, its time to send the check to me and I text him and get no response. Long story short, I ended up having to take him to small claims court. To say this has been an inconvenience would be an understatement. He told many lies in court to try and get out of returning my deposit, but in the end the judge ruled in my favor, and guess what? He still will not return my deposit. This man blatantly lied and stole thousands of dollars from me that I will most likely never get back. Steer clear of this company.

Rocky lied to us over and over again, promising to drywall our fully-framed workshop, fix the stairs and add a few windows for $25k, only to charge us $49,000 final bill when he and his crew screwed up the drywall leaving spaces and cracks and peeling of the drywall tape. The windows his crew installed had no flashing and didn't fit right. He quoted 4 weeks to finish the job. It took him 6 MONTHS, and he never did finish it, then threatened to put a lien on our home if we didn't pay him his extortion fee. I recommend you DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR unless you want to pay double his quoted amount and horrible quality work!

I had a few issues with my earthquake retrofit experience that stunned me given the otherwise good reviews of this company. Communication was sparse. No status updates or scheduling without me contacting them myself. It's not their fault that a permit takes months to receive, but their request was actually rejected and they had to resubmit it, and if I hadn't kept calling them I don't think they would have told me. As for the work itself, I was told it would be a few full days of work for their crew. They even wanted me to rent a porta-potty. In the end, two guys worked for 5hr on one day and one guy worked for 3hr on the second day. Based on how much work was actually done, I felt misled by the description of the work and the estimate. One of the workers was very unprofessional, without going into details, and I would expect better at their price point. For a job that should give me peace of mind I was left feeling scammed.

He even took the time to take a look at another potential issue I had on the property. This guy is efficient and knows his stuff! Thanks again for making my big project just a little easier.

I had drywall cracks around the house due to the house settling in and then I also had to close out a half wall. For these services, I had decided to go with Seismic Northwest. Rocky and his team did a fabulous job on this entire project. They have done some solid work. The team kept me constantly updated on the next steps through the project which helped me understand the process better. Rocky and his team are very easy to work with and I would highly recommend them if you are looking for getting such projects done.

Rocky Adams, owner of Seismic NW came out before we bought, was very helpful in assessing the home. We used Seismic NW to do the retrofit. His crew, led by Bryon, was on time, did great work including removing and reinstalling some wood paneling, drywalling, texturing (even some walls that needed some re-texturing that weren't involved in the retrofit work!) and got the work done on schedule for the agreed price. The crew was courteous and clean - put down runners to protect the floor, covered furniture and furnishings with plastic to protect against dust, put a SaniCan in the driveway for the crew and removed it promptly upon completion of the job. Rocky and Bryon were great to work with, and when an unexpected problem came up (rotted out framing above the foundation - nothing to bolt the foundation into in that spot) Bryon came out, then Rocky came out and gave a very fair price to remove the rotted material, replace the sill and sister to the floor joists, and were available to do it right away. We already had a contractor engaged in remodeling some other rooms, and had them do the work instead, but Rocky's price was actually a couple hundred lower! We were very happy with the whole experience working with Seismic NW. We didn't get bids from any other company, but feel Rocky's team did it right and given a brick and clay tile roof home on a slope (needs extra bracketing to hold the weight of the home), gave us a great price. I think they're worth 5 stars!

I called Rocky at 6pm to see if he would come take a look at a concrete patio and bulkhead wall that were cracked and aged. Rocky agreed to come out the next day, with less than 24 hours notice. On site, Rocky was knowledgeable and professional. He walked me through the various histories of the slabs and walls onsite, describing how each was framed and poured. Rocky identified the construction techniques used and was able to help me understand the approximate age of each piece of concrete. He identified issues and recommended remediations, instilling confidence in my plan to continue with my home purchase. Thanks Rocky for your insight and responsiveness! 5 stars.

There are two parts to this review: 1) Retrofit: 5 stars - on time, quick work, fair price, met expectations. But then, I let Rocky talk me into doing the rest of the basement remodel while he was already there. 2) Basement remodel: 2 stars. Would NOT recommend. Something that was supposed to take "4-6 weeks" just got done, 7-8 months later. Seriously. There were plenty of hiccups along the way: fair quality work; poor communication (you have to hound them to get work done); discourteous staff (drywall guy especially, others, especially Mik were great); lack of clear direction (see example below, mostly because Rocky never really showed up to supervise); some surprise charges / sloppy accounting; and of course missed deadlines. Perfect example: We had planned a layout with a stacked washer and dryer and a area to fold the laundry. The framers then came (without Rocky) and framed out an extra 4-6 inches too far from the wall for whatever reason. When everything was said and done (i.e. the drywall was in and the plumbing was in), the washer and dryer no longer fit and the whole configuration had to be changed. We had to re-demo and got charged for the work and for the plumber call-back. Even now, the washer and dryer config is not ideal. AND, that was another month added on. So, save yourself the trouble, go elsewhere for your remodels.

I highly recommend Rocky and his team for your earthquake retrofit. I had interaction with Rocky, Dimitry, Mike and James. They were all very professional and polite. They kept me informed every step of the way, and my retrofit was completed early. I asked Rocky what other services Seismic NW performs so that I can recommend them to my friends and family, and even utilize them again myself! I was thrilled when he told me that they now offer construction/remodeling. I will definitely call Rocky when I'm ready to move forward with my bathroom remodel. Call them. You won't be disappointed.

Seismic Northwest did a terrific job retrofitting my house built in 1951. From the free estimate, to project completion, the job was completed to the highest standards. The process was explained every step of the way. Everyone who worked on the job was professional, polite and on time. Both the house and the garage were sheathed In plastic to minimize dust and at the end of the job all the construction waste was removed and the area swept. I recommend Seismic Northwest without reservation.

I was doing an extensive remodel of my basement on a house built in 1966. Since I had all the walls and ceiling stripped down to the studs and joists, it seemed like a good time to consider seismic reinforcement. I went through Home Advisor since I had no idea how else to proceed nor the inclination to start researching and interviewing from scratch. Rocky was very quick to respond and come out to look over the project, discuss what would be involved and talk about options. He was very professional and responsive. Because of my very tight schedule constraints, they needed to do a fair amount of shuffling around of projects and schedules but did so to accommodate me. GREAT response. Their work crew, primarily James and Bryon we extremely friendly communicative and thorough. What minor communication and clarification issue that arose (as they always do on big projects) were quickly and acknowledged and remedied. Very good to work with and highly professional. I would highly recommend them.

Very impressed with the work, the crew, the subcontractors - professional communication, attention to detail, friendly workers and a fair price. A perfect result considering all the weird things than can happen with an earthquake retrofit of a house built in 1911, where nothing lines up quite right. Despite bizarre snowstorms and power outages the job was finished on time. They even did some repair on areas not technically in scope of the bid. Thanks to Rocky, Bryon, Josh, Virgil, and everyone involved, I'm now up to code.

I had the pleasure of working with Sam and Rocky about 18 months ago on a retrofit for my 1919 home. They made this major project as easy for me as possible, from first steps of applying for permits to last steps of going over every single tiny detail to ensure the job was successfully completed. These guys are beyond an A+ in customer service. Super considerate of home owners needs. Extremely professional, friendly, and polite. One team member who worked my retrofit job, Mike, was great about covering all my questions. More recently I enjoyed working with Mick on a smaller project on my home. They did an excellent job on our retrofit project. From the start with the initial estimate they answered all our questions and were a pleasure to work with. Once they provided the initial estimate they stuck with it despite a few unexpected curve balls when they opened the walls. Retrofits are big, messy, projects but they handled it all very professionally, showed up when they were supposed to, kept us informed throughout about what they were doing, and made the project go as smoothly as possible. They did everything to make it right and to make sure we were happy with the final result, even replacing some of our old trim that wasn't reusable. It's great to work with a company that takes pride in their work. I'd highly recommend them.

My experience with Seismic Northwest was very good. From start to finish, they were professionals. They estimated time accurately for every phase of the project, from the permitting process, to the work inside and outside my house. They responded very quickly to address any concerns I had. This included Mic coming over to my house on a Friday or Saturday evening before President's Day to make sure the plastic would adequately protect my exposed house over the long weekend. He personally taped and stapled and battened the hatches to reassure me. They finished the job when I was out of town and when I returned home I had a list of about 15 items I had questions about. Mike immediately set up a time for Bryon to come out on Saturday morning. Bryon addressed every item on my list to my satisfaction. Seismic Northwest also went the extra mile. They found and replaced a rotting corner 4x4, added insulation and OSB where there was just a gaping hole behind the siding. They did a nice job and I feel confident my house will remain on its foundation in the event of an earthquake.

I was really, really impressed with this service! Had estimate from another local company, which rescheduled visits and ultimately abandoned my project. SNW was on time every time, from first free inspection and estimate, to permitting and engineering, and on to retrofitting. Worked with my schedule 100%, and brought in extra crew to compete when holiday shortened work week. Tidy, meticulous, excellent communication skills, super esprit de corp in the team and respect for each other and the client. Could not be more satisfied. You are in for a great experience if you chose this company!
