I recently hired Tito and his crew to enclose my backyard patio. This is the second time I hired Tito to work on my house. The first time was for a bathroom addition which I still get compliments to this day. This recent project of my patio/sunroom was something I have been thinking about for some time. I decided to go back to Tito since he did such a great job the first time, and he did not disappoint. The project was pretty seamless and all in all took about 3 weeks. Tito and Julian are father and son, and they have a great crew of talented and hard working people. I have only good things to say about them, their integrity and honesty and about the quality and thoroughness of their work. They took on a sizable project to create a two bedroom one and a half bathroom apartment within our home incorporating part of our garage, a huge RV carport, a large e music room and an existing bathroom and toilet. They utterly transformed the space, remodeling, re-walling, rewiring, replumbing, adding drainage, floors, ceiling, decorating, sub panels, upgrading the main panel and adding HVAC for heating and AC, with recessed and under cabinet LED lighting, patio doors and patio, fencework and front door. They fixed the siding, soundproofed the walls, did everything to code, handled the architect's drawings, secured permits, and helped us pick out the kitchen cabinets. They also helped in getting the best discounts and pricing. They stuck to their estimates but were flexible where we requested changes which were reasonable and fair in terms of change in pricing to accommodate extra work. They were a pleasure to work with. You can sleep well knowing that they know what they are doing and that the standards will be top notch. They sailed through all of the inspections too. The project came in along the lines of the budget we expected and it exceeded our expectation in terms of quality and finish. Judge yourselves from the pictures posted. We would and likely will use them again for projects in our home. They came highly recommended by neighbors and friends. We took in competitive bids. They were the right people to go with. We have no regrets and are super happy! Their prices are fair and reasonable and they are highly competent and trustworthy. Our only relationship with Tito and Julian is based on this project that for us was super important and a major expenditure which we could not afford to get wrong. We picked the right team for sure!

Rojas Construction completed an extensive remodeling project on our 1930s Tudor home located in Oakland. The work included a full gut and rebuild of the basement, the main floor kitchen, bath, and breakfast room, as well as the second-floor master bath and closet. Construction extended to other areas of the house as Rojas upgraded the electrical service and paster finishes. Structural improvements included excavation and lowering the basement floor, installing sections of new foundation, and adding new support beams to accommodate the expanded kitchen. Other upgrades consisted of new doors and windows, additional electrical panel, and new plumbing / heating systems. Rojas did a great job and worked with us to initially refine the project scope and then later expand the project scope as needed. Their crews were professional and respectful as we lived onsite throughout the entire remodel. The finish work was clean and tight, and they corrected issues when they occurred as the project progressed.

Rojas Construction recently finished a renovation for my home in Walnut Creek. The job touched on nearly every aspect of the home including a full kitchen renovation and bathroom renovation. We also updated a lot throughout including an electrical system and lighting update, a seismic retrofit, a 17-foot structural beam, new tile flooring, interior doors, painting, and more. This project has been a long time coming as I first started working with a design team back in 2020, and had been considering a renovation even long before that. When I got Rojas Construction on board to break ground in May, I was eager to see how our plans would transform into reality. Working with Tito and his crew has been a great experience. Titos construction knowledge was invaluable in helping me navigate my project. I appreciated that he was always available to discuss the work and talk through key decisions to help me weigh my options. The people on his crew are all top rate. They are positive, considerate, and genuinely always happy to help. You can tell that they are proud of their work and care deeply about making sure that things are done right. Ill honestly miss the morning greetings and the jokes we shared. they always showed up with a smile, ready to get to work. If you are considering a renovation for your home, I could not recommend Tito and his crew more. For the time being I will be taking a well-deserved break from construction activities, but when Im ready for my next project I know that Ill be giving Rojas Construction a call.

Rudy Rojas Construction did a superb job on our small bath remodel, completely redoing everything. Total work time was 6 weeks (had to be done before Thanksgiving!). Each specialized crew did high quality work. Special shout-out to the tile crew that incorporated hand-painted tiles from Mexico as the accent in the wall and shower recesses. I'm more than delighted with the results, and their fixed price bid was the best as well.

We worked with Tito and his team from Rojas Construction & Remodeling on a full renovation of our house in Berkeley last year. The project touched every room including a full kitchen remodel, remodeling two existing bathrooms, adding a new half bathroom, vaulting a ceiling, installing skylights, and building a new redwood deck. We also updated most electrical, all windows, all doors, replaced the plumbing, installed a heat pump, added tankless water heater, did seismic retrofitting, and redid the exterior. We presented Tito and his team with the plans and permits and asked that the work be done in 6 months. Even with some surprises behind the walls and all of our changes and additions (lets add a half bath!), we were able to move in just a month later than we originally wanted to. His team worked with us to complete the deck and exterior finishes after we moved in. From start to finish the team at Rojas was great to work with. They were fast to respond to our initial inquiry and straightforward to communicate with regarding scope and price. They were very accommodating of the changes that emerged along the way, including removing the two-story chimney and adding a walk-in closet. There were also the issues you find along the way when you open up the walls and find dry-rot and corroded pipes. We always felt that Tito was knowledgeable, trustworthy, gave us a fair price, and never pressured us. He was onsite most days and did a great job scheduling and coordinating the various trades (hvac, electric, stucco, etc) to avoid delays. Weve heard horror stories about contractors disappearing when youre nearing the end of the project. It was the complete opposite with Rojas - they diligently worked with us to close out our final punch list. When we requested a bit of the final details be reworked because they seemed rushed, they were responsive, took responsibility, and made sure we were completely satisfied before they considered the project complete. The follow through at the end to make sure we were happy with the details was a standout part of the project for us. We feel very fortunate to have found such an honest, communicative, and thoughtful contractor. We're thrilled with the outcome of the project and get so many compliments on our home. We highly recommend Rojas if you're planning a renovation in Berkeley or nearby.

UPDATE 3/20/2024 The first job Tito did for me was in the $1,000 range. Carpentry and paint. He did a great job. Since then I hired him for a $5,000 range job and a $20,000 job: (1) In the $5,000 range, last year Tito installed epoxy coating on the dusty concrete floor of my three car garage and 200 sq ft work space, removed a bunch of old peg boards from the garage, sealed holes and repainted the walls and ceiling of the garage (see pic of garage). Scope included epoxy coating the concrete floor in a 400+ sq. ft. playroom, but he found moisture was still coming up through cracks in the floor under the carpet. Tito recommended putting down a moisture barrier instead. He applied the barrier and I have detected no moisture coming through the floor this rainy season. He and his team showed up on time, did all the work promised and left me with a beautiful new-looking garage, a better work space and a drier playroom for the kids. (2) In the $20,000 range The Home Inspection Report indicated that the house was bolted to the foundation to current standards but that the cripple walls needed reinforcement. Late last year, Tito and I crawled under the house to work out a scope for earthquake retrofit. Tito showed me that the entire side of the house at the crawl space entrance was not bolted to the foundation at all. The rest of the house was bolted to an outdated standard: 12 bolts with small round washers instead of stronger 5/8 bolts with large square washers. I hired a structural engineer to design fortifications for my house so that it would survive a major earthquake a standard much higher than Code requires. It was an enormous undertaking: Tito and his crew tore out the drywall in two downstairs bedrooms, pulled out a stud between the bedrooms, and removed the drywall from the back wall of the garage (see pics). They added a layer of structural plywood over the framing, then replaced the drywall and the stud. The walls were then 12 thicker, so Tito added inserts to the door jambs, windows and electrical fixtures so that all the fixtures looked and operated the same, but in a room 12 shorter. They also cut holes about every five feet in drywall around several walls to add the 5/8 bolts. Tito also installed three giant 50+ steel strips in parallel underneath the top floor of the house and one steel strip perpendicular to the three. When he opened the ceilings below, he found that the joists ran perpendicular to the path of the steel strips, so he had to cut and add lumber between the joists to support them during an earthquake and to provide locations for the huge number of nails pounded into each strip. Tito and his crew of four worked here every weekday for just shy of a month implementing the design. Despite a long and exhausting project, Tito and his crew continued to perform at the highest level, showed up every day, demonstrated expertise in all facets of the job, listened and responded to all my questions and requests, and were considerate housemates for the month. The structural engineer commended Tito on the quality of the work. By the end of the job there was an enormous amount of dust in the lower level of the house, and they did a lot of work to clean it up. Tito had several opportunities to ask for change orders, such as when the engineer made changes midstream to his design and when Tito had to take out crown molding because the as-builts did not show the correct positions of some of the foundations, but he didnt ask. He kept to his quote. In terms of quality and quantity of work for the price, it was a performance that I have never before experienced. As the project wound down, I asked Tito to help with a bunch of smaller problems in the house, many of which he had identified. He fixed problems with HVAC ducts, installed new lighting, new plumbing, even repaired some furniture. All the work was performed beautifully by Tito himself or by his crew. I have a bigger project coming up in the backyard. When I am ready to have it done, Tito will be my first call.

I have known Tito Gutierrez for 10 years because in my first real estatetransaction we needed a home inspector. what we found was that the home needed a new foundation and luckily tito is not only a great home inspector hi is also a license general contractor. he has help me so many times over the years and have also referred him to other agents. recently i was dismeyed to discover that my roof had a leak !! I did get Other quotes because anyone always benefits from multiple perspectibes. however tito was not only very reasonable priced, quick to responed and was able to make the repairs before the rain. if you need a contractor I recomend calling Tito Gutierrez.

Looking for a contractor in the Bay Area is kind of a nightmare. We have found, over the years, that people are flaky, they subcontract, poor workmanship, you name it. But not Rojas! Weve worked with them a number of times over the last decade. We have a sweet 1906 Neoclassical Row House and its a solid home but in need of some normal care. Tito and his crew walked us through our first big (to us) remodel of our kitchen 6 years ago, its still in great condition! Then we called him back, in a sea of 15 other bids, to do our back yard deck. His price was competitive but I KNEW that the work would be done well, on time, and without the shenanigans that other contractors can put you through. Oscar, Sergio, Titos son, Julian and Tito worked through the days to get our project done on time. They clean up every single day and make each space as usable as possible for the entirety of the project. I left them with a set of keys to the house to come and go as the please, because they totally have my trust. And they are oh so patient with the many changes and opinions that happen with any home project. I cant recommend them enough.

This may be the worst be the worst example Ive ever experienced. Remodeled our kitchen a year ago and its already falling apart. He begged me to not put this poor review on Google. He guaranteed work for a lifetime. By the way, Tito shows up for work maybe on day one, or when a payment is due. Other workers are hired out to come the rest of the time, and are a bit easier to talk to and communicate needs with. After the job is done he becomes harder to reach than booking the first time. Weve asked him to come follow up on his failing workmanship multiple times. Makes and breaks appointments leaving you high and dry. He disappears at the first site of any pushback. Good luck booking this guy. My advice is to steer clear, even if he responds.

I met Tito is 2013 when looking to purchase our home. My Real Estate agent called Tito while I considered submitting an offer on the property, which relied on our ability to flip a 375 square foot unit into a studio. Tito showed up on the spot, followed-up with a quote and had the studio move-in ready in 6 weeks. Fast forward to 2020, hes also remodeled our kitchen, master bathroom, deck, built a storage unit under my deck, removed a fire place from the living room, painted many interiors rooms of the house, including the full exterior and now a garage remodel. I always thought Roja Construction would return to remodel my 2nd bathroom next, but shelter in place changed that as we looked for more space to work from home. I called Tito on a whim, thinking this project might be too small for him. He showed up the next day, provided a quote a few days later and started the following week. He told us two weeks for garage remodel and the project only went over two additional days for final touches. The bulk of the project was complete as anticipated, but some additional time was needed for the cement floor to dry. The remodel was a big project which included demolition, re-framing the attic to use for storage, an access door to the attic, dry wall and texture throughout, new electricity, recessed lighting, a light in the attic re-framing of the exterior door a brand new window installation for natural lighting, restored our garage floor which was horrendous and looks absolutely beautiful for a fraction of the price of new concrete. We couldnt be happier with the garage and framing the ceiling. The additional cost to reinforce the attic is well worth the storage space gained. Working with Rojas Construction has always been about more than the project. Tito is very pleasant to work with, a great communicator, hes fair, his crew is professional, punctual, clean, trust worthy, and hell do his best to meet the deadline. Our two daughters are also very fond of him as theyve grown up around him while hes worked on our house. Our neighbor even told us how impressed they were with the cleanliness of Tito's crew. Tito has become a household name. Its been 7 years and well over $150,000 in home remodel projects. We only have two more project until the house is complete and will return to Tito once we save enough. I highly recommend Tito and his crew at Rojas Construction & Remodeling.
