We've used Abacus multiple times for projects in our home, from small 2 day projects all the way to finishing our basement. We keep coming back because of their obsession with quality, communicating daily, and they've offered amazing recommendations for design and use of spaces in our home. My only complaint is my entire home wasn't built by Abacus, because my basement looks so much better than the rest of my home! Since our basement finished project, we have tried to work with Abacus onto other projects and on the first of the two projects they bid was 10 times the material cost. On the second project, we had budgeted $35,000 to work with them. It took at least three followers to get them to come out and they would miss disappointments and not state why. I had to follow up with them myself each time. They finally did combine and measured with the intent of providing us a quote, but they ghosted us and have not responded to any of our messages and burned six weeks off of our project timeline when we only had about 12 to begin with. They did a great job on their first project, but theyre either too busy or just too disorganized to scale their business. Two stars because the first project went well, but has been a one star experience on the last two interactions.

The owner of this company hit my car mirror in a parking lot. Then was extremely rude about it. If you're gonna be rude to people and not care about other people's vehicles in a parking lot don't be driving around your company vehicle advertising your company If you can't display any type of customer service. Because now I'll be sure to tell everyone that I know Including strangers how rude and untrustworthy your behavior is. Can't image how poor your company business is if that's how you handle an interaction that was your fault.

As much as I dislike giving negative reviews, I feel it is my responsibility to let potential customers know about our experience with Abacus. Our initial conversations were good and we felt we had an understanding of the job needing to be done, a walkout basement. On the first day of work, July 2024, we were called outside, on a 90+ temperature day, to view our 2-condenser units locations. We were advised that both units had to be moved, at $750 a piece, in order to start the build out. They had an electrician on hand which felt like a set up. Since it was so hot and the other option not viable (2-weeks without air conditioner), we agreed to the move, thinking it would work itself out at the end. It did not. We paid $1,500 to move both units, which would never have fit back in their former location. Why would you not measure and map out this potential move up front and include it in the bid? We had a covered dog run in the yard. While the cover was older it ripped during the manhandling of it by their subs. Daniela, the head of the family company and the only English speaker, said she refused to consider compensation for the replacement cover ($75). Throughout the project promises were not met, and delays not always communicated. There were continued refusals to complete promised work which is in the contract. One example in our bid, included lifting a slab of concrete leading to our porch. Never was it written or spoken that I would have to dig up my Japanese Wisteria and Calla Lillies prior to this work being done. I have several other bids where concrete workers have said they could work around my plants and not damage them. I have established plants that I will not kill for some messy concrete worker who cant color within the lines. Daniela refused to work with us in any way. When their sub installed the outside light at the entrance he came into my home and took a light bulb from our ceiling light for the new fixture. Seriously? No mention was ever made about this to us. Cost - meaningless; theft - not tolerated. Here we are in Dec and I have sinkage around the concrete perimeter. I have asked them to fix it so we will see how that works out. UPDATE AS OF 3/10/25: Daniela was going to send over a revised agreement stating they would fix the sinkage around our walkout basement and fix our slab out front. Not only did we not get it, she has ghosted us. WE HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND ABACUS CONSTRUCTION. If you choose to work with Abacus please know that English is not their primary language, their values do not match as what we are accustom to, their communication skills are poor, and the customer is NEVER right. NO is their favorite answer. They are a general contractor so they will take your 18-25% fee for being your general. My advice, be your own general and hire subs to do their piece. This is what I did on my first basement finishing project and it saved me 50%. I do wish them the best but not on my dime.

Six full months have passed since the completion of our basement by Abacus. I wanted to wait some time to post a review to have actual backing instead of posting right after the project was done. Daniela and Henry sat down with both, my wife and I, and went over the details of a basement that would be suitable for my soon to be 80 year old mother. They were both invested in the important details of building this basement in order to make my mothers life as comfortable as possible. From widening the door frames (for my mothers walker and possible wheel chair) to the height of the countertops and remarkable quality both in material and craftsmanship. Six months after and we could not be more pleased with the results. Through out the building process, Henry and Daniela identified structural flaws and oversights left by the original builder (newly built Edge Home Townhome), documented them and repaired them. Their service is one of a kind and their integrity unmatched. We are thankful to have found them. Again, we wanted to wait some time before posting this because often with new built homes there is that honey moon stage and in some cases one begins to notice the flaws a couple of months after. The basement has shown exceptional structural integrity (carpet, counters, doors, plumbing) and we are very pleased with it. We will post pictures once we have finally finished the decoration aspect (sorry mom!) Thank you Abacus team!

I would not recommend Abacus to anyone I care about. We signed on with them for a $6,000 bathroom renovation and have been sorely disappointed. First off, they hire out contractors that work for other companies, which means you never know how long something is going to take. We have a 25 square foot bathroom (not including the tub) that was ripped up starting 11/3 and the job is still not done (1/2/24). Read your bids carefully. Apparently our bid didnt include painting, even though Daniela came to my house and told me which paint she was going to use on our walls. Our walls had to be repaired after tile, and they didnt know what they were doing. They bubble weird. On top of that, the walls in 2 spots were ruined from the tile guy. Danielas plan was just to fix those walls and paint only them? In a tiny bathroom? Not paint the whole thing? Then they sprayed the tiny bathroom and literally didnt paint any of the things that needed to be fixed, but got paint everywhere and only cleaned it when I told them to. They also pay no attention to detail. There was a light switch issue I told them about since day one after the tile was installed. After 6 weeks they fixed it and its not level. We also cannot find a switch plate that works with it because the screws are so off. Danielas response when I told her how upset I was everything was taking so long was just because your bid says bathroom remodel doesnt mean we are going to do whatever you want us to do. I just wanted our bathroom put back together after complete renovation lol. I wasnt asking for anything above and beyond. Just a job finished. They never came back to install our shower rod, even though they said they would multiple times but kept leaving their drill other places, never fixed a plug that the tile guy didnt put back properly (he filled behind the plug with cardboard to bring it forward! And they didnt fix it!), installed a weird light switch extender completely crooked, and on top of it all lied to me about when a plumber could come to finish installing our faucet she told me he was booked until the 3rd week of January and I needed to just find someone else. I called him that second and he could come the next day. She wanted to leave our walls worse than they found them and felt like that was appropriate and ok. The first time they fixed the walls and painted them, they didnt sand any plaster they had used to fill holes and painted over it. They did the same with the wood trim. Then they came back to fix the paint for the 3rd time and used a little roller that left a weird texture over the spots they rolled. After that I had them texture the walls and told them Id just paint them, at seven months pregnant, because I couldnt handle them coming over again to just do the walls wrong AGAIN. Truly just stay far away. Contact your own workers and youll save yourself the headache of having to deal with this company. They would also say they were coming certain days and times and then never show up and not even reach out to say when theyd actually be there (days or weeks later). If youre considering going with them contact me and I can explain more of this headache over the phone.

We used Abacus for a basement finishing. We did a great room, storage room, under the stairs playroom, and a bedroom. We had accents walls, pop out fireplace, vinyl, and tile flooring. Quarts countertops in our bathroom. We got to design all of it ourselves, down to the last detail. It was great working with Daniella. She is professional and quick at getting back to us. We are VERY happy with our finished product. If the was anything we wanted changed they had no problem accommodating us. I would recommend Abacus Construction.

Abacus Construction did an excellent job finishing our basement and for such a great price! Daniela and her family were great to work with; very friendly and professional. Abacus Construction did an amazing job finishing our basement, painting our garage and adding a pantry. The attention to detail is outstanding. They love what they do and they do it extremely well. Daniella was wonderful to work with, very knowledgeable. They have excellent communication, did a high quality job for a great price. They even came back and installed a window blind and tv mount for free. We would absolutely use them again!

Abacus construction is a great company! My husband and I hired them the first time to paint the walls in our brand new townhouse, and we loved their job! And the second time, we hired them to build our basement, and they did an AMAZING job. We couldnt be happier with our decision to hire them. Daniela was so helpful in picking everything for our basement, and Mr. Henry is very knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend this own family business! If you want quality, you should hire them ASAP.

This is the second time we have used Abacus. They decorated our Condo back in November 2020 and have just finished our house in Draper. Cannot say enough good things about their work. They have such an attention to detail and being a family business, their only concern is making sure the work is done flawlessly. They go above and beyond every step of the way. Our house looks amazing now and we couldn't be any happier. With all the supply chain issues for paint, they worked with their local Sherwin Williams rep to have paint brought up from Arizona. Like I said, above and beyond. Daniela even said after the new carpets are laid, if we have any damage to the baseboards (you know we will), they would come back and do anybtouch ups necessary. Amazing family and a great business. Thank you for making our new home look amazing!!!!

Daniela and her family were very helpful. They were very respectful of our space and went through a window in order to not disrupt our daily life. They finish the job and almost exactly the amount of time they quoted us for the exact price they quoted us. When a small mistake happened they fixed it on their own time. And they were very professional about payment. Would strongly recommend and will probably use them again.
