Reviews West Virginia Painters
March 2026
West Virginia Painters did a great job paining the interior of our home for resale. They were professional and timely. We are very happy with the work they put in.

The professionalism was top notch- showed up when they said they would. Work completed in a few days. Great work. The progression had me nervous, but the end result was amazing. Thank you, George!

This is truly a great company. They completed all of the work that we agreed upon, before the deadline that we agreed upon, and for the price that we agreed upon. They also performed quality work for a fair price, with great communication skills, very responsive.

I mean what can I say? George and John were great. They are both such wonderfully nice people. Plus George is very fair with his pricing. John did such an amazing job. I can't wait for them to come back and paint more rooms. When you can find a contractor to not only have good conversation with, but also do fabulous work, you have hit the jackpot. Hire them! You won't be disappointed.

K&C did a great job painting the interior of my house. Finished the couple rooms in one day.
February 2024
The quick review: The work was professional, and we will use them again. The pricing was fair but not cheap. George was very good to us and he will be our go-to for future needs. We were debating painting ourselves and after seeing how much work went into it, Im so glad we decided to outsource this project to them. The long version: We left a VM with WV Painters about a quote. George responded same day to our request for service (rare!) and came out and gave us an estimate. We got clear on the scope of work and paid a small deposit. A couple weeks later they began the work on time. The painter, John, was a perfectionist and a really nice guy. The work was finished in a few days and my space looked amazing. George called and came by throughout the job to check on us. It was the perfect experience for us.
August 2023
George agreed they would get someone to paint my living room and entryway by 8/21. Signed a contract, said the job would be done by 8/21/23. I paid him 15% up front; he took the money and today is the deadline and I've not heard from him or anyone else again. They clearly either forgot about the job or just hoped I would go away. I won't assert it was a dishonest outright scam, but I can't rule it out. If they hadn't forgot about the job and intended on doing it, they would have called me to request an extension and I would have granted it, or they would have just kept me looped in somehow, but to this day I haven't heard from anyone involved with this company. I could prob sue in small claims court for the 15% back since we have a written agreement, but honestly I'm just gonna run as fast as I can away from this company. Also, the guy who books this company is George Palefsky. Check out the Google business reviews and you will see at least one of the good reviews is from what looks to be his wife. Other good reviews are likely padded or from plants as well. From what I can tell this is a poorly run operation. Also; I requested callbacks from a lot of different sites and George replied back on at least 2 different sites. That was kind of shady as well. One last thing; he made me promise to give a good Google review if/when the job was done well, which I said no problem. I found this a convincing tactic that showed he would stand by his work, but in retrospect it looks to have just been another marketing trick from George. Well George if you read this; you got your review my man. Feel free to send my money back. UPDATE: George responded to my review expressing understanding of my frustration and potentially remorse for not completing the job and taking my money and not delivering me anything. But let's be clear; did he send the money back? Nope. He easily could, that would make things right and honestly if he did, I would take this review down or at least soften it strongly, but will he do that? Heck no, and that's all you need to know about George and this company.

I would highly recommend Kavalier and Clay. They responded quickly to our phone call when we needed someone to paint our house. Our house is a difficult house to paint.. But George came out, looked at the job and had men here within a few weeks. They did an excellent job... these guys painted in the heat and never took a break..they were all so pleasant, particular about getting it done exactly the way we wanted it... we will definitely use George and his crew for future jobs.

These were the best people I have ever used. They did the extra work that my house and deck required. The house looks fantastic and I will have them come back next year and do the garage/shop/ and storage building. They were great to work with. Jane Haines

George and his crew did an excellent job on the exterior of my house. We have gotten several compliments from the neighborhood on the quality of the work. The painters that did the work were friendly and happy to explain everything they were doing, and went out of their way to keep us up to speed on every step of the process. I'm very pleased with how everything turned out.

Dreadful Experience, let me explain: This company doesnt actually paint houses. Instead, they hire subcontractors to do the work. Homeowners pay more and the local painting companies receive less so that they can take a cut of your home-improvement budget. In my case, I think they had trouble finding a sub. My June-July estimate stretched to late October, when they sent a 24-year-old who had a day job and could only work late afternoons. He applied primer to my brick in a hailstormplease see dripping primer in the pics. He didnt remove the downspouts or bother to prime behind them. And he forgot to use primer on my gutters, soffit, and fascia. After he left and more delays, I worked with Visa to get my substantial deposit back. As you can see from the pictures, they left things in a mess. I had to pay a company to re-install my gutter guards which they removed. I will have to replace my gutters once the paint starts to peel, and my house must remain in this ugly state until I can hire a real painting company to come fix it. Please look at my photos. 20 years experience? You decide.

I'm normally pretty generous with my reviews, but this is a tough one. Maybe we were just unlucky and didn't have the greatest painters, but overall it was not a great experience (definitely a case of over-promise and under-deliver). The job itself took more than twice as long as originally promised. Coverage and thoroughness were inadequate throughout much of the house. Drop cloths were very evidently not used throughout a floor of the house, leading to excessive paint splatter. And, quality of the work in a few spots was barely adequate. The main saving grace here is the effort put in by a couple of the managers to help correct as much as possible. In the future, going with WVPainters again would entirely depend on the relative price and my ability to hand-hold the painters assigned to the job.

This company did a great job painting my rooms which had vaulted ceilings, skylights, and a hard to cover previous color.

UPDATE: my deposit was not returned. George told me he would not perform the work or return my deposit because he did not like my Google review, and then hung up on me. I easily reached this company by phone to come to my house for an estimate. I paid a deposit for my ceiling to be painted, and George told me that he would call me in a couple days to schedule the work. It was a very small job so I understood I was not a high priority. A month passed and George never returned my phone calls or answered my emails to schedule a date. Finally, I sent an email that stated I would contact the state Consumer Protection office if I did not hear from him by a specified date. On that date, I made one last attempt to reach him. To my surprise George answered the phone. He told me WV Painters (Kavalier and Clay) was returning my deposit and not performing the work. Then he hung up.

Everyone I dealt with from the beginning to the end from this company was absolutely wonderful to me. They did a GORGEOUS job on my home and I am having my garage done whenever they have a opening. Professional, kind and and talented in every way. Thank you especially to Lucas for hearing me and putting up with me and never letting me know that I was driving you crazy. This company is the best. I absolutely recommend them.

Best experience we have had with a contractor in a very long time! Our quote was well within reason. John Barnett and his helper Mike were super nice, very courteous, conscientious, knowledgeable and a very good worker and supervisor. We are very pleased with the job they did. I would not hesitate to refer these guys!

The inside of my home is just beautiful now. It has been unpainted since we moved in last August. Shawn and helper Harley did a great job. They were professional and got in and out within 2 1/2 days! They did walls, trim, doors, and closets! If I would need painters again, I will call them.
February 2021
Kavalier and Clay replaced gutters on my home. They were professional, clean, and thorough. They quoted me a reasonable price and there were no hidden costs. We already know that this is the company we will use when we are ready to paint the exterior of our house.
