Poughkeepsie Drywall has helped me out with 2 projects. The first was an 8 family apartment building (about 7,000 sf in plan) and the second a single family (about 2,000 sf in plan). Both times they were very fast and easy to communicate with. The owner and his foreman on both jobs were agreeable and really know their stuff. I had a very good experience with this contractor and would work with them again.

We hired Poughkeepsie Drywall Company on a new build for drywall, taping, trim, painting and flooring. Kyle, the carpenter did a nice job on the trim, which in this house gets installed before drywall; the drywall was also done well. The taper, Manny, was in a rush because he wanted to go on vacation and he ultimately didn't finish, so Gabriel (owner) asked the painting contractor to finish the mudding -- and the wheels fell off the project. The biggest issues, in my mind, were Gabriel's lack of oversight and professionalism. He didn't have a lot of personal experience with the painting contractor he hired and never came to check their work. They started painting before the walls were ready, they lied about how many coats they applied and were incredibly messy. We insisted that Gabriel meet us at the site and it was difficult getting him there. In fact, he told us if we wanted to meet him there it would have to be early on a Wednesday (8am). We live 2 hours from the site, so we left at 5:30am to be sure we'll be there before 8am. At 8:15, I get a text from Gabriel saying that his van got stuck in snow -- and he sent me a picture, which seemed extra so I investigated... he straight-up lied to me -- the metadata from the pic he sent indicated that it was taken a week before he sent it to me. My wife and I have poured a lot of our savings and a ton of blood, sweat and tears into this project and Gabriel is not a serious person. Eventually, he got to the site and agreed to hire another painter to fix the taping and painting. The painter did a wonderful job, however, we paid for Level 5 taping in the main room and it is not a Level 5 finish, but we just ate it. Then Gabriel said that he won't schedule the flooring until we "signed off on the painting," making it seem as if we were being problematic complaining about an inferior job that he was too busy or otherwise engaged to see for himself. So we signed off on the painting on a Saturday. The next week he was unreachable about scheduling the flooring until he sent us an email on a Thursday night at 10pm telling us the flooring will happen the next week as long as we pay 100% of the bill in advance. Note: Gabriel never had an issue collecting payments from us, and paying in advance was new information (he blamed the flooring company). We were very uncomfortable with this (especially since Gabriel lied to us in the past), so we told him we would be onsite when they start and will give them 50% and the balance when it's done. Gabriel said that won't work, so we parted company and found another company to do the flooring. I doubt the flooring contractor needed 100% upfront. More likely, he was going to slow roll us because he didn't like working with us, the property was too far away, or whatever. I'd stay away from working with Gabriel in particular.
