Lookswell is an excellent family owned company. I received a few quotes from different paint companies but when Jim came by I knew I was going to be in good hands. He was extremely personable and knew exactly what he was talking about. I had a lot of patch work and painting to be done. Tommy and Omar did excellent work and paid very close attention detail. They were very clean, accommodating and provided the great service I was expecting. I will be recommending this company to all of my family and friends.

Imagine coming home for the new year and seeing your kitchen "raining." What a way to start 2025. I definitely underestimated how slow water damage is until what I thought was a very small leak from my upstairs neighbor grew from a 1/4-centimeter gap to over 3 inches. I remembered how much I liked Adrian when he fixed our screen door locks and painted our exterior doors, but I didn't think Lookswell Painting did any kind of mounting or cabinet repairs. After an exhausting amount of estimates and insurance calls, I finally contacted them thinking, "The worst they can tell me is 'no.'" To my delight, they agreed to investigate my cabinet sagging and the water damage. (As luck would have it, my over-the-range microwave survived and had no damage at all.) Instead of Adrian, Guillermo showed up, who was friendly, informative and easy to work with. We did have a hiccup with the microwave, which ended up being broken during the remount. That is the only reason I'm not giving this a five-star review. For consumers, I STRONGLY recommend filming and showing your electronic appliances work BEFORE any contractor arrives. It's difficult to prove that an appliance used to work (especially during a water damage repair) when it stops working mid-job. Couple other critiques were that the microwave doors were out of alignment and one set of cabinet doors was put in upside down. Although Jim (the owner) is absolutely NOT a people person and could've made a bad situation much much much worse, I respect that Guillermo was reasonably cool and Anthony (office manager) was professional and polite too. To Jim's credit, he did offer a happy medium with the microwave that my insurance would cover. I was relieved when Guillermo returned with Angel because this was a two-person job in the first place and over-the-range microwaves are heavy. Although it was obvious that Guillermo was not nearly as enthused be there the second time around, he and Angel did the job that needed to be done. He also tested and photographed the microwave remount and made sure I did too. I've walked past my kitchen and smile every time I see that the cabinet and microwave are fixed. Family came over for my birthday and also complimented the work this week. Even through the hiccups, I would still say this is a job well done and would continue to recommend them to others since 2020. While I wish it could've been a smooth repair the way the other one was, life happens. I still respect this company's work.

We just moved into our condo and painting was one of the first projects on our list. When we moved in, there were some adhesion issues in the corners where paint had stripped off and lots of holes from previous nails and hookups. Lookswell did impeccable work on caulking and sanding, these rooms look completely new now. Their work was precise and efficient. They were also very patient with us as we had to reschedule a few times due to travel and work. Overall, fantastic service and we would both recommend Lookswell and use them again. Thank you for playing a part in making our new place feel like home!

Yes, in 2025, there is sticker shock when getting your place professionally painted. I got three quotes and am so glad that I went with Lookswell painting. Ok, yes the place looks amazing and they were professional, and on time, but more so because of the customer service that I got. Before moving into my loft, I decided to paint the entire place a shade of white. I was obsessing over the shade. I have made paint mistakes before and honestly, the condo was already a shade of white and I was really worried that it would look too similar (and if felt too dark). I went to SW, got a free consult with someone, got those little squares - basically making myself nuts. Eventually, I chose a color, sent it to Lookswell. All of this being out of town. But, it wasn't feeling right, so two days before my scheduled paint job, right after I closed and got to town, I called and talked to Anthony, who was super nice and said that Fernanda would meet me at the condo to talk it through the next day. This saved me. Fernando was so amazing. He spent a long time with me talking about it and in the middle of the conversation, decided to go to SW and pick up some samples. He then came back and painted squares all over the condo doing comparisons. In the end, I chose my original color but at the lighter version (75%) and it looks amazing. I am so happy with it. Fernanda was outstanding - and I ended up adding on closets and it all came in on time.

Scope: We got our house painted by them - everything inside (walls, doors, trims, ceiling, etc.) and outside (deck and fence). In addition there were a few minor things that needed fixing around the windows due to a leak. Timeline: We gave them a 4 week timeline to finish all the work and they finished it within 3 weeks. Quality: They did a great job and whenever we pointed out an area that might have needed another coat of paint, they did so happily. They made sure that the work done was to our satisfaction. We couldn't be happier with the work and would highly recommend them.

Our three-unit HOA in Bucktown recently hired Lookswell to redo our guest-facing front stairwell, which had become very drab over the years. Communication with Jim's team was easy, quick, and clear, and the estimate pricing was transparent, fair, and ultimately correct. Jim has a great eye from his years of experience and made some great recommendations that we gladly took him up on. We are very pleased with the results - it looks like a brand new interior with fresh paint on the walls, ceiling, and trim, new carpet, and new ceiling lights.
