Ashlab Home Improvement was recommended to me by a neighbor. They told me that they did excellent work. I had Alex come over and give me an estimate to paint the walls, ceiling, and trim on two bedrooms. We hired him to do the job. Alex and Carlos showed up on Monday morning just like he said they would. They were prompt every day that they worked on the job. They went above and beyond making sure that the job was completed correctly. They moved everything out of the way, patched any holes, and retextured spots as needed. One room was red and the other blue so they used the correct primer to cover the walls. The walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and closets look fantastic. Alex and Carlos do excellent work and cleaned up after the job was complete. I definitely recommend them for quality work and their professionalism.

Alex and his son repaired damage that happened during tree removal by another company. Alex communicated in detail with me and tracked down flashing to match mine. He even made the corner structurally stronger from where the roofers had not extended the beam all the way out. He came out the same day the damage happened and handled the repair quickly. He put on a new shingle, caulked, replaced flashing, and painted. I am very appreciative.

I have nothing but great things to say about Alex and Carlos of Ashlab. They just finished a repair refresher on my three story Victorian wood house. A little background: Two years ago my house was a disaster, lots of rotten wood and siding, old paint, and a leaning chimney. They were the only contractor I met with that accurately found and pointed out all the issues and had excellent solutions to fix them. Many of the issues were unfortunately due to unskilled contractors we had hired in the past. Ashlab replaced the rotten cedar siding with Hardi (the only contractor that even suggested this to us and it looks great!), repaired/replaced fascia and soffits, window sills, a leaning chimney, etc. and painted the entire exterior of the house. All the repairs they did back then are good as new over two years later. This time they repaired and replaced new rotten areas (a wood house in hot and humid Houston is always decaying somewhere ) power sprayed, rebuilt my broken fence, repaired balcony banisters, and repaired an interior rotten windowsill (among other things). They dont just cut and piece new wood in rotten area which can lead to future issues (we know this firsthand), they rip out the entire bad area and replace it all (completely seamlessly). I have never had anyone else work on my house with such care, skill, and precision. Ashlab is also affordable and gets the job done in a very timely manner. Alex and Carlos both are very skilled, considerate, hardworking, bilingual, and incredibly nice. I would give them 10 stars if possible. My next major project with them is going to be a bathroom remodel.

Alex did a great job, we did a complete Master bed/bathroom and 1/2 bath update. We just had new floors installed before the painting, he protected them. He sprayed the trim and doors and master closet shelves with high gloss oil enamel and it looks really good. he used high end paints on the walls as well. he also replaced the light fixtures and had to do some drywall repair and had to match the texture and that came out real good as well. he also replaced the vanity in the 1/2 bath and had to do some drywall repair work to make the larger new vanity fit. his price was very fair and he did some extra stuff and didn't add to the price. We are very happy with the finished job. I also want to add that there was a couple touch up things that we noticed over the next couple of weeks and when I called him about them he came out right away and did the touch up. We just recently had our entire 3-story cedar siding house repaired/painted. It hadnt been painted in 9-10 years and the last painters had just painted over rotten cedar. Our chimney was leaning, we had a rotten window, and previous contractors had done a horrible job of caulking and installing flashing so that we had completely rotten soffit/fascia areas. On various areas the cedar siding was so rotten it was falling off the house. I had been looking for a contractor for months and most had no interest on working on a tall wood-sided house and would quote insanely high estimates with the disclaimer that it would go higher if they found any surprises. I refused to call any of my previous contractors because I had not been happy with their work. I found Alex of Ashlab Home Improvement on Google and he had a 5-star review average. After using him I am now confident they are real reviews. 1. He gave us the most reasonable quote and stuck to it (even though our house was like a rotten box of chocolates, so many unpleasant surprises). There were a few major surprises that we decided to get fixed properly and he gave us a very reasonable quote to add to the project. He was 100% upfront about his pricing. 2. He found issues that were hidden and/or from bad repairs and fixed them. This is the first time I didnt have to tell a contractor what needed to be done, he just did it. And he is incredibly knowledgeable. He even replaced siding areas that were prone to rot with hardi-plank, and he did a great job blending it in. 3. He was on the job with his workers every day. Most contractors I have hired come out to give me a quote and I never saw them again. Alex was there working with his guys every day for weeks. Alex is bilingual and speaks both English and Spanish fluently and is very personable. Just a hard-working nice guy. His workers were also very good. 4. I decided during the job to add a few additional things to the project and he added them without any issues. If I had any questions he answered them and he also made excellent suggestions when I wasnt sure what I wanted done. 5. He is insured and has workmans comp. 6. He not only does exterior work, but does everything interior. He loves to do kitchen remodels. After seeing the magic he performed on my house (and photos of his interior work) I would hire him in an instant to do work inside. Anyway, if you are looking for a handyman/contractor, please check him out. My house looks brand new now!
