I just finished a project with Lawson from Spotwood Construction, and I couldnt be happier. He was originally referred to us to install a wood beam in our ceiling, but while discussing my vision for the bedroom, we also discussed adding wainscoting. I showed him a few inspiration pictures, and he quickly sketched out several options. The finished product turned out amazingfar exceeding my expectations. Lawsons craftsmanship and eye for detail truly transformed the space. I would highly recommend him and Spotwood Construction!

My family hired Spotwood and Lawson to update our tired, and hideously 1980s master bathroom and he did a great job. Lawson is the best contractor weve worked with since buying our money pithes easy going, a good communicator, and his work is top-notch! For our bathroom project, Lawson used some subcontractors for plumbing, electric, and tiling. All of them were excellent, with Josh, our tile contractor, being the standout. Josh and his team did an amazing job matching the tiles for our floor, shower, and baseboard tile trim. For our bid, Lawson recommended The Tile Shop (Rock Hill) for tile and Milford Kitchen and Bath (Webster Groves) for the vanity and fixtures. We ended up using both, and they were also excellent. One of the best things about working with Lawson is his communication skills. Weve worked with contractors in the past that essentially stop communicating once they start working, which is frustrating. Lawson was great responding and adjusting to our schedules, letting contractors in and out of our home, and even pausing construction while we were on a family trip. We would definitely use Spotwood for another home renovation project and recommend that you do too.

We had a leak in my sons bathroom that we could not figure out. we hired Spotwood and they were able to diagnose the precise issue and fix the problem! The main issue was the previous contractor had used the wrong material in the shower. Spotwood came in and totally waterproofed the shower and tub while giving the bathroom a complete remodel and update. This was a total gut rehab to the studs and replacing some sub-flooring. They even uncovered some shoddy work and were able to take care of it. They were a pleasure to work with; timely, neat (had no idea they would clean up their workspace each day) and professional. I felt very comfortable having them work on the bathroom while I was away at work. The bathroom looks incredible now, it was time for a refresh anyway. Fairly priced for guys that actually show up!

Communication was not great. I found myself asking for updates on several things and after days when there was no action. Workers left paint splatter on several areas of hardwood floors, sliding door, counter tops, and didn't complete paint job in several places. Wall paint color made it on door trim on several doors. Well after painting was "done" workers still had left every light switch and wall outlet without a faceplate on leaving live wires accessible on main floor. During paint workers needed to shift around washer and either had to detach or pulled washer far enough out that the drain line to wall drain was left loose. To my surprise when I ran a load of laundry I heard water draining onto the laundry room floor and running all the way down the basement wall pooling on basement floor. Workers poured some kind of solution on my driveway that i can hopefully power spray off but it left two large stains on the concrete. Workers left dirty fingerprints around new light fixtures. We asked for soft close hinges for kitchen cabinets, after 1st size didnt work, instead of taking the time to search for easy to find correctly sized replacement hinges, the solution was to install soft dampers which involved drilling additional holes into the cabinets. I had to finally end the total scope of work early due to the poor quality of work I had seen on things thus far. I hired Spotwood to do a laundry list of things I didn't want to do but now wish I had gone ahead and done them myself. I can't speak for everything Lawson/Spotwood advertises services for as im sure his specialties excel somewhere else, but for basic general contract items I would not recommend and would never let him or his workers back into my house even if the work was offered for free.
