I typically never review companies in a negative light and just go with the flow if something isnt exactly as I like. As a business owner, I truly understand that things happen with customers and experiences someone time dont go as us owners always hope. As a result, I generally always try to give the benefit of the doubt to those that I hire. I do not desire to bash Wally Ooten or his companies, both Newark Drywall and/or Ooten Drywall LLC and hope my negative review isnt seen in that light, but more so as informational to help you make a good consumer decision. What I will share with you is my true disappointment in Mr. Ootens professionalism and the time frame in which he doesnt complete his work. When concerns were brought to his attention, he often deflected, did not own up to his errors, and made excuses for time frame issues being broken. If you are looking to hire this company, my sincere suggestion is that you put them on a very strict timeline that he agrees to with penalty being assessed to his payment if he doesnt meet your agreement. I also would suggest you do not schedule your other contractors around the time frames Mr. Ooten provides, as you will likely need to cancel them, costing you both money and time on the project. In the end we had to hire another company to complete the job Mr. Ooten started and did not finish. To Mr. Ootens credit, what work that was completed, did look nice, and when the relationship was called out to him, he did tell us we didnt need to pay the remainder of the contract so that we could hire someone else. In sincerity, I dont feel there is an issue with the quality of his work, its all the other stuff that goes with running a project that I object to. Based on his reactions, comments, and timing of work completed, I believe his company is simply over extended, and as a result he just couldnt get the job completed efficiently, and to save face, he just made excuses and ended up quitting and walking off the job when we tried holding him accountable.
