I've had JB do two jobs for me over the past few years. One was a small drywall project and the other was a whole basement remodel which included multiple trades...drywall, painting, carpentry...maybe something else. The small job went great and looks perfect, so I hired them again for the basement remodel. This didn't go as well. There is a huge communication problem between sales, the project manager and the workers. I was asked by the workers a few times, what they should be doing. On several occasion, people didn't show up and I had to track down the PM to find out if they were coming and I was always told "sorry, I forgot to tell you...". At one point they had to re-do the LVP on my stairs (which they initiated because they were not happy with the finished product, so that was a plus), but the PM came over and asked me who did the stairs and when did they get put in. Me: Ummmm, your "stairs guy" and it was a week and a half ago maybe...? Shouldn't this all be things a PM should know? I've been through a lot of home construction projects and am pretty patient because I know things go wrong. The end result looks great, but it took a lot to get here. I would 100% recommend for a small drywall project. If you have a large project, I would ask a lot of questions about the process, especially if you don't work from home.

I am leaving this review to caution anyone from working with JB Custom. I got a quote and was assured by the person who came out to my house that they would be respectful of my budget and would come up with a quote based on what services I needed prioritized. We agreed on a plan and budget, which included ripping up carpet and laying down LVP flooring, along with drywall repair, paint and installing fans in the bathrooms and repairing any drywall that was damaged as a result of that installation. Before the project started, I asked if the baseboards would need to be removed and was told no. During the process of ripping up the carpet, they did in fact have to remove the baseboards, which was not discussed with me, and I was told they would do their best to keep that extra expense at cost and as close to our original quote as possible. Also, hardwood floors were discovered. I had a conversation with them about what it would mean to refinish the hardwood floors instead of laying LVP and I was told it would save me money. They sent me a change order for this, which was roughly $1000 less than my final balance due, so it seemed I was saving $1000. It was an ADDITIONAL 5k. This was not clarified for me until after that part of the project was finished. The entire scope of my project was not complete, because I had to ask them to stop working on the house due to already exceeding my budget, repeated delays, confusion about whether they were hiring an electrician for part of the project, and unfinished work. While I was waiting for clarification on the additional 5K charge, the owner reached out to me to have a conversation about the project - he left a voicemail which I returned. He never tried to call me again. After several conversations with JB, I was told they would refund the cost of the baseboard (their mistake) but they did not offer to make any other adjustments to my total due for work that was completed. I can only come to the conclusion that I was deliberately misled. I am left with unfinished work that exceeded my budget by a few thousand dollars, and at square one with my bathroom fans and and other finishing work that needs to be done.

Very bad experience with this contractor. I had a simple job that required drywall to be hung over a plaster ceiling in one room. The bad experience started with minor damage to the already finished and textured walls when they were bringing the drywall sheets in. Followed by their clean up crew removing all the masking tape and plastic coverings in the WHOLE house when they were finished, even the stuff they didnt put up, and in the rooms that they were never working in, I did receive a discount on the price from this. The house was vacant and was being worked on multiple contractors. However, the cherry on top was the horrible quality work that started to show itself about a week later. Cracking occurred on the inside corner seams. I take a closer look to try and investigate the cracks, tap on the cracked area and it made hollow sound, so I scrape the tape off and find out they have basically NO mud behind the tape. So I get to spend a couple days of my own time repairing their shoddy work, and I am now stuck with a ceiling that will probably be plagued with cracks because this contractor was more focused on a quick job than a quality job. Absolutely horrible work and I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Besides fixing the drywall, the painter did an excellent job matching the colors before the flooding. Exceptional Service from JB Custom Drywall! A section of my bedroom ceiling in my condo was falling down, so I contacted Jon Brown from JB Custom Drywall. He came out quickly, gave me a free quote, and pointed out that the entire ceiling was starting to droop not just the section I had noticed. I was worried about the cost, but Jons honesty and fair pricing immediately put me at ease. Before finding JB Custom Drywall, I had a disappointing experience with another company referred by my condo association. I felt they were trying to take advantage of me, especially as a woman unfamiliar with drywall repairs. Their quote was inflated and didnt even address the full issue. Thankfully, I trusted my instincts and kept looking. Meeting Jon was a game-changer. He was professional, sincere, and gave me a great price to fix the entire ceiling less than what the other company quoted for just a portion. As a single woman, I truly appreciated his integrity and respectful approach. It meant more than he probably knows. I also want to recognize Kristin M, Jons assistant. Though I didnt meet her in person, she was incredibly responsive, very knowledgeable and extremely helpful with all the necessary paperwork I needed for my condo association. After the first day, it was evident that was not going to be the case. I was expecting to hear from the project manager after the crew left on day one. I ended up having to contact them to find out what the true work schedule was going to be for the job so that I could plan the rest of my week accordingly. It would have been nice to have met with the project manager at the start of the job and to get a detailed explanation of the work steps to be done and when they were expected to start and be completed. Overall the JB Custom team was a pleasure to work with. I would use them again for any future drywall install or repair work.

First, the painter was excellent. If it was him alone on the project, I would have given 5 stars. Communication was not good as to when the various contractors would be at our home. I work part-time on a contract basis and had to pass on jobs in order to needlessly be at my home waiting for contractors that did not come. For some examples: The first Saturday of the project (09/13/25), we were told the clean up person would be at our home between 8:30 and 9:30. She didn't arrive until 12:40 pm. No one contacted me to say she would be late. I called after waiting for hours. Monday 9/15/25, we were expecting a crew to arrive between 8:30 and 9:30. No one arrived until 12:52 pm and again no one notified me they would be late. Tuesday 9/16/25, we were told someone would be there between 8:30 and 9:30. Two guys arrived at 8:33 and left by 8:45. They were apparently there only to finish with a corner piece that had been forgotten the day before. The other crew then did not arrive until 2:15 pm. I passed on another job that day which required me to be at a meeting at 11:30 am. If someone had told me the next crew would not arrive until mid-afternoon, I could have accepted the job. Beyond just communication, there were some mistakes that had to be corrected. I had to call the project manager to get those lookd at and corrected. Finally, what should have been the final cleanup left quite a bit of drywall dust on our floors. Once again, I had to call to get this corrected. It was then corrected to my satisfaction.

We used JB Custom in the past for a large drywall and finishing project with good results. But the last few tile projects we did with them not go well, and we are very upset with the outcome. We paid a lot of money expecting a professional level job and they did not deliver. There was little to no project management, no oversight of the subs, and no accountability for the poor work. One of the projects was demoing and rebuilding a small bathroom. We had a rendering of the design and had them out to discuss feasibility. Tile samples were on-hand and we asked if they had worked with this material before. We had paperwork from the tile manufacturer about how to work with the tile. They assured us the project was do-able and they were confident they could pull off the design. I wish they would have been honest from the start about their skills and the sub contractor arrangement so we could have gone with someone else. Prep for the shower was not good. The walls were not framed appropriately so they were not square or plumb. The shower pan tile was installed crooked. The arch we wanted to make the focal point of the design was not framed correctly from the beginning. The tile installer did not know how to work with the hand-glazed tile. Every single cut made to the tile is chipped along the edges. The widths of the tiles in the jamb are not equal so one half is wider than the other. Chipped pieces were also installed on the curb hoping we wouldnt notice. The shower head and valve trim are not lined up. It looks really bad and is just a huge disappointment. There was no communication throughout the project that he was struggling with cutting the tile cleanly. No one from JB came out to check on the progress of the framing, waterproofing, or the tile installation to make sure the job was being done correctly. We were left to fend for ourselves despite large communication issues with the tile installer. He expressed confusion at which part of the job was his responsibility and which was JBs, and ended up just doing parts of the job himself that JB had quoted us for and would have been better to perform. We asked if a water test was conducted and the installer was offended that we even asked about that and swore he did. I did not see any water test performed over a 24+ hour period and no one communicated to us that one was performed. The whole time the tile installer was clearly rushed, working very late and on weekends, trying to fit in the rest of the project before his next job, which probably exacerbated the issues. When we brought up our concerns to JJ he did not take any accountability or offer to fix the issues. He told us the tile installer didnt want to come back to finish the caulking and last remaining items. When he begrudgingly came back to caulk he was clearly frustrated that we complained about all the chipped tile and other issues so he did a rushed job and missed spots. We had to go back to Floor and Decor to buy more caulk to fill in the gaps. Even the trim carpentry was bad. The carpenter couldnt get the baseboards flush and used 8 nails per stud. We removed all the baseboards to re-do them we found that he didnt remove the old nails from the previous baseboard so thats why they wouldnt sit flush. So, we paid ~$1k for baseboard work that we had to redo ourselves, on top of everything else. I guess Im adding finish carpentry to my list of skills now. In the end, we had to negotiate a fair bit off the final price after describing all of the issues, and they did ultimately admit the project did not go well. But, since then, we noticed more issues (like the baseboard issue) and just feel really unhappy about the whole thing and wish we never went with them in the first place and took one of the other bids. We went with them in large part because we have a lot of other projects we want to do on the house and they claim to do it all. We had even been working with their building planner on plans to re-do our master suite but after all these issues theres no way we could use them again.

We had some water damage in our family room and living room and the ceiling was pretty beat up by about 35 holes that were made to be able to dry everything out. We found JB custom in the area decided to give them a try. First of all Marco who came to see us was great and explained a lot about the repair and painting and everything so we got a quote and it was very competitive. Everything got set up and day won Chris came and did a fabulous job patching all of these holes. Then it came to painting and the job that was done was so good along the Crown moulding with the edging and the painting of both ceilings we were really pleased. The communication and follow-up by JB personnel was excellent. There were a couple glitches but they responded very quickly and in a really professional way. I plan to use them to finish our basement as it sounds like they can do just about anything. My neighbor across the street saw the JB truck in our driveway and the next thing I know JB was over at their house so they must have trusted them because they know that we take care of our house over here. No I need to get 2 or 3 quotes just go to JB they're great.

I had a few repairs done at my home. The kitchen ceiling paint was falling off and 2 of the kitchen walls had up to 3 layers of wallpaper in areas of which had then been painted over. My master bedroom had 1 wall that had wallpaper pulling away from the wall. That wallpaper had been painted also. I removed everything right down to the drywall in areas, which caused damage. Mireya and Ricardo from JB Custom repaired my ceiling and walls leaving everything looking brand new. Lastly, I needed insulation in my attic. It was discovered that I had a hidden stairway in the attic. JB Custom workers were all very knowledgeable in their field, protected my home from dust, cleaned up after their work was finished and were extremely friendly.
